Women's Club of Greene
WHO ARE WE?
Since the mid 1960's the Women's Club of Greene has been a vital link to the welfare of those in our area who need a helping hand from time to time.
The Club sponsors several annual events that include:
* Annual Christmas Project for the less privileged.
* Two scholarships to help young women from Greene pursue their educational experiences
* We support the Greene Central School, RCAM and Abused Women's Advocacy Project to make sure that the majority of our area children's needs are addressed on an ongoing basis.
HOW YOU CAN HELP!
Each year the Women's Club raises funds to support their projects. Our Annual Christmas project has grown and is our most successful annual undertaking. Many area companies sponsor families while other area merchants help by selling "Share So Others Will Know You Care" donation cards and by allowing cash donation cans to be displayed on their counters.
To support the annual Christmas Project the following events are held:
* 50/50 Raffle and Mini Raffle at the Leavitt Area High School Craft Fair
* 50/50 Raffle at the Greene Central Christmas Fair
* Members contact sponsors from Greene, Leeds, Turner, Lewiston, Auburn and elsewhere to request donations of cash, food, new clothing, books and new toys.
It is the belief of our members that while scholastic achievement is admirable and of great importance to one's future, there are other characteristics that play an equally important role in helping one become a well-rounded individual.
The Women's Club of Greene seeks to recognize the young women who give of themselves, their time and their talents to help improve the lives of others.
To raise money for our scholarship program the following events are held during the Spring of each year:
* A luncheon is held at the Greene Town Meeting in March
* A yard sale is held at Lindy's Auto Sales on Route 202 in May of each year. Donations of resalable items are welcomed.
Come and Join Us!
New members are desperately needed to meet the ever increasing demands of our community. Anyone who would like to have fun while working diligently on behalf of their neighbors is urged to join the Women's Club of Greene. We meet monthly at various members homes and adjourn for the summer months.
If you would like more information on becoming a member or donating to our annual events please call Sherry Lavoie at 946-5295 or Brenda Theriault at 946-5750.
