Winter Sand Bid
Specification
The Town of Greene seeks Bids to supply Winter Sand for the 2008-2009 season. Although not guaranteed, the Public Works Department historically has used approximately 6000 yards of sand per winter. All Bids should include a quote for delivered sand on a per yard basis and non -delivered sand on a per yard basis. The sand will be provided on call in increments as necessary during the contract year (October 1, 2008 to September 30, 2009). The Road Foreman will provide three working days notification prior to the date when the sand is needed (barring emergency conditions).
Specifications: Material will be clean, sharp, screened, and frost free sand with no foreign material such as clay or loam. Sand will be subject to random testing which will meet a pass through a ˝ (one half) inch screen containing no more than 5% (five percent) fines (as measured by being passed through a #200 MDOT sieve) and shall have no particles larger than ˝ (one half) inch.
Please submit bids on the Bid Sheet attached in a sealed envelope marked “Winter Sand Bids” Town Manager, PO Box 510, Greene, ME 04236. All bids must be received by 2:00 PM, September 18, 2008. Bids will be awarded at the next regular scheduled Selectmen meeting. All questions should be directed to Charles Noonan, Town Manager at 946-5146.
The Town of Greene reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids and to take any action deemed in the best interest of the Town.
