The Town of Greene is centrally located in Androscoggin County bordering Lewiston, Turner, Leeds, Wales & Sabattus. Incorporated on June 18, 1788 from Lewiston Plantation. With its 36 square miles, we are a caring community with many things to offer. Population is 4350 (according to the 2010 U.S. census) and growing strong. U.S. Route 202 runs through the center of Town. Greene has 61 miles of quality roads and is located only 6 miles from the Maine Turnpike (Interstate 95) and has 6 miles of Railroad Service from the Guilford Railroad.

The Town of Greene is seeking bids for its 2013 paving projects throughout the Town. Bid specifications are listed on the “2013 Paving & Roadwork Specifications”. Bids must be received by June 12, 2013. All vehicles are required to have a current transfer station sticker to use the facilities as of March 15th. All dog licenses expire Dec 31st of each year. If not licensed by Feb 1st a $25 fine will be added to license fees. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bottle & Can drive for Little Aubrey Renee Coburn born on 8/9/10 and has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome which requires numerous surgeries.Her 3rd open heart surgery is planned for fall of 2012 after she turns 2 years old. This sticker is good for 2 years (2013 & 2014) and is mandatory to enter the transfer station and must be on every vehicle. So if you do not have an green sticker come into the Town Office and pick yours up. The orange sticker is no longer valid. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Household Hazardous Waste can be taken to the Western Maine Environmental Facility at 424 River Road in Lewiston the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from 8:00am to Noon. Permits for Saturday and Sunday will be obtained on Fridays. Permits are also available online for a fee at www.maineforestservice.org and click on the open burning permits button on the left side of the page. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ever considered volunteering on a committee in the Town of Greene? Now is the time! Several openings are available. Also Election Clerks are needed. Election clerks are a paid per hour position.
