The Greene Historical Society invites you to a public meeting to talk about work parties and maintenance at Greene’s Old Town House, 98 Main Street, on Tuesday, March 26, at 6:30 PM.

This 1834 building is the only historic building the Town still owns.  It is sound but the roof needs replacement, the building needs painting this year, and there are other necessary repairs to do, inside and out.

Members of the GHS and Town staff have worked to get bids for roof replacement and have estimated funding for the other repairs.  Now we need to get together a figure to submit to the Selectmen and the budget committee, to be included in the Warrant for Town Meeting.  We’ll be looking for ideas about  planning Town events and work parties.  Remember the fun we had with the Ice Cream Parlor move, paint parties, and BBQ/Ice Cream Social?  What—you weren’t in Greene then?  Let’s make some new memories! How can we use this opportunity to get townspeople together in the social activities people keep wanting Greene to revive? How can we get the children involved in our Town’s interesting history?  Let’s share ideas and figure out how to make them happen this year.

Please come Tuesday—and if you can’t be there, email your ideas to Judy at jmarden207@gmail.com,  send them to our Facebook page, or mail them to the Greene Historical Society, Box 433, Greene, ME 04236.
